2022 Mixed Media Release Blog Hop & Give Away

Hola everyone. Thanks for joining Hero Arts in celebrating the 2022 Mixed Media Release Blog Hop and Giveaway!
If you hopped over from the talented Mindy Eggen, you are in the right place. To start the hop from the beginning, visit the Hero Arts Blog. The entire hop list can be found at the bottom of this post, along with the giveaway information.

Mixed Media describes visual artwork in which combines more than one medium or material. I love all of the new Mixed Media products Hero Arts has introduced as they pair well with many of the stamps, papers and dies already available.

I used the Looking Glass Flying Girl Fancy Die to create mixed media altered photo book and a card.

I purchased a photo book from a discount variety store and primed it with white gesso. Once dried, I used Hero Paste to stencil the Nativity Stencil. This technique adds a lot of texture and dimension to the project.

When the paste dried, I painted the entire book with blue acrylic paint and splattered White Glimmer Iridescent Shimmer Mist.

To continue, I assembled the Looking Glass Flying Girl Fancy Die and placed it in the window of the album.

I stamped, colored and die-cut images from You Sparkle and placed them onto the album with pop dots.

I heat embossed a sentiment from the Art Journal Message set in gold and adhered it to the album.

To complete the album, I sprinkled a few sequins from the  Champagne Sequin Mix to complete the project.

I created a complementing card using the same materials.

My next mixed media project came together quickly. I stamped the Vintage Frame Cling onto Sand cardstock and cut it sown to 4" X  5.25". I partially stamped Love is Love onto the panel.

I partially stenciled Cobblestone with Hero Paste and splattered black acrylic paint onto the panel.

I die-cut the children images from the Wish I May Stamp & Cut set in black cardstock and adhered them to the panel.

I die-cut and adhered Nesting Hearts to the panel with foam squares.

To complete, I adhered the panel to an A2 card base.

I created a complementing gift bag using the same materials and added pearls.

Hero Arts|You're A Hot Mess

Hola everyone. Have you seen what's cookin' in the Hero Arts May 2022 My Monthly Hero Kit release? I love the cover plate die included in the kit. It pairs well with so many backgrounds.

I used a shaving cream background to create my card. I love how it give the appearance of flames!

Card Instructions
Background Paper:
1. Spray a layer of shaving foam into a 8" x 8" disposable aluminum baking pan. (Shaving foam not cream works best or this technique)
2. Add several drops of Creamsicle Reactive Inker on top of foam.
3. Place a skewer into the foam making zig-zag and swirl motions to form the marbled effect.
4. Carefuly press a 5"X7.75" piece of white cardstock into the panned shaving foam; set it on a dish towel and scrape the excess foam off with a plastic ruler or old credit card to reveal the pretty paper!
5. Once dried, cut the marble paper to 4.25" X5.5" and adhere to an A2 card base.

Card Assembly:
1. Die-cut MMH May 2022 Cover plate in black cardstock
2. Trim stove from die-cut.
3. Adhere a 4" X 2" piece of antique ivory cardstock behind the stove.
4. Adhere stove to marbled panel.
5. Stamp and trim sentiment onto antique ivory cardstock in black ink
6. Adhere enamel dots to stove for "knobs"
7. Adhere to card with foam squares for dimension.
8. Adhere sequins to complete.

Here is another card I created using the same technique featuring the Girl With Kite cover plate die.
