Finding Inspiration

Day 10
#thedailymarker30day

I am challenging myself to create more cards during this challenge. Card designs have always been a struggle for me even with the use of card sketches. Often I look for inspiration in magazines and online. Early this morning I came across some Any Warhol pop art and immediately though of a card to create! I grabbed my Mama Elephant Little Girl Agenda Stamp and coordinating die set, turned on some music and started creating. I love how the card turned out!

Wish You Were Here...

Day 8
#thedailymarker30day

This challenge is about opening yourself up to try new techniques! Today, I attempted to color a light shooing down on a subject. As I said...attempted. I can see the various mistakes I made; the blending of the night sky, the light under the bench and the direction of the light ( the lam post is behind the image) However, practice makes perfect and I will take a try at this again at a later date. Though I was not totally happy with the turnout, I still created a card...something else I would do this challenge...create as many cards as possible.

You may recognize the sentiment from yesterday's post as My Favorite Things* Pure Innocence Wish You Were Here Clear Stamps Set. The image is from the same set. MFT Stamps does have a lamp post die...however I felt it felt it was too small for the image. I went to Cricut* Design Space and cut one out from the Heritage Cartridge.

Heart Tree

Day 5
#thedailymarker30day

Kathy of The Daily Marker suggests that we set aside 10-15 minutes day to color during the 30 Day Coloring Challenge that she hosts. Today, I colored for about 1 minute and took another 5 to create a quick card. It was all a happy accident. I did not set my plates up correctly in my Cricut* Cuttlebug for my initial pass of the My Favorite Things* Heart Tree die. Therefore all of the pieces did not cut out. At first, I was a bit frustrated . Then, not wanting to waste paper, I thought I could turn my mistake into a card. Ususally, when I set out to make a clean and simple card, my end result is messy and complicated! I love how this card turned out!

Celebrate Creative License

DAY 6
#thedailymarker30day

I enjoy taking creative license when coloring. I will often add an Afro to an image that has been designed with another hairstyle. Today, I did just that with Toby by Julie Nutting and created a card! The ballons and sentiments are from *Pink and Main’s Box Card Dies Set🎈Do you like to take creative license with your coloring by changing a hairstyle or adding features that are not part of the original image? ! 🎨

Magical Unicorns & Gift Bags

 Day 4
#thedailymarker30day

I had soooooo much fun coloring this cute little Magical Unicorn by Pink and Main* for Day 4 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, hosted by Kathy of The Daily Marker. I stamped out the image using my MISTI  Stamping Tool by My Sweet Petunia* and Raven Detail Ink by Brutus Monroe. The set also comes with coordinating dies.  I used the Gift Bag Die Set...also by Pink and Main to create a gift bag. One gift bag turn into a few as I caught up on programs in my DVR. The bags are easy to create. Just double sided tape and a little folding!  I used pink cardstock and created a background using Ranger* Distress Oxide Ink and the Navigational Star 6X6 Stencil by Carta Bella. Take a peek at the other bags I created.......

On this bag I used pink cardstock, scrap paper and ribbon from my stash.
Flowers: Recollections Fabric Flowers.
Bling: Mon Ami Gabby

This bag was created with purple cardstock and yep...scrap paper and ribbon. The image and sentiment were freebies from Pink and Main* that I had in my stash. The sprinkles are Nuvo Crystal Glitter Drops*: Golden Sunset by Tonic Studios.

This bag is from the Tiffany's & Co. catalogue envelope.

This bag was also created with scrap paper. I used a Saucy 3x4 Journaling Card by Authentique and some sequins to adorn the front. I did have to cut off very little from the journaling card on all 4 sides
to get the fit I wanted.

This set is fun and the Gift Bag is simple to assemble. They are great as gift card or treat holders. Fill them with treats to hand out next Halloween. Use as party favors, teachers gifts, etc. If you use this set or Gift Bag Die...let me know I would love to see what you come up with.

YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME

DAY 3: YOU MEAN THE WORLD TO ME
#thedailymarker30day

Last month I hopped along in Ardyth's 3K YouTube Subscribers Video Hop and was inspired by everyone that participated. One of Ardyth's friends, Carly, showed 3 Cards with 1 Stamp and I knew theGina K Designs* Rose Bouquet would be perfect for the techniques she shared. Like Carly, I used my MISTI* stamping tool to stamp the bouquet image. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks by Ranger* for the watercolor technique Carly showed in her video.  Once all roses were colored in and dry, I used Brutus Monroe Raven Detail Ink to re-stamp the image. Using the MISTI makes that easy!  A few splatters of ink, the sentiment and done!  Thanks for taking a peek!

If you want to play along in the challenge, you can hop in at anytime. When posting on Instagram be sure to use #thedailymarker30day. If you do not have Instagram- you can post on the private FaceBook page here>> 30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE. I hope you will play along!

Here is some additional information regarding the challenge that Kathy has posted on her blog previously that you may find helpful.

WHAT IS THE GOAL OF THE CHALLENGE?  To color something daily, even if it’s a few minutes, but certainly not required.  (I know that I am happier when I am coloring even if it’s for 10 minutes.)  It’s an ‘anything goes’ challenge; color whatever you feel inspired to do.  Any medium of your choice including “coloring” with ink or fiber for that matter.  Some days you will have more time than others but, it’s just about adding more time to color and carve out a little time for you (often I have colored one petal on a flower).
CAN ANYONE PARTICIPATE IN THE 30 DAY CHALLENGE?  YES please!  If you want to participate you can jump in at any time during the challenge.  Feel free to include your children and grandchildren.  If you miss a few days don’t feel like you have to catch up.  We all know life can get in the way.
HOW DO YOU SHARE WHAT YOU ARE COLORING?  On Day 1  I will have a place for you to share on my blog with a link up. Two more ways to share are FaceBook or Instagram (these are more interactive). When you use the hashtag #thedailymarker30day I can find what you are doing. Kids & young adults use #thedailymarker30daykids.
WHAT IS A GOODWILL AMBASSADOR?  Each challenge a group of people are chosen that were very active during during the previous challenge.  They will be helping me spread love on Instagram and Facebook.  The challenge is about coloring & it’s about community, spreading kindness & support for each other.

If you are playing along, please tag me so I may see your work!

Love You More Than....

DAY 1: CANDY CORN
#thedailymarker30day

I am super excited for the start of this 30 DAY COLORING CHALLENGE hosted by Kathy of The Daily Marker !! I will attempt to use stamps that I have purchased but are just sitting in my craft room. Through Kathy's challenges, I have met other awesome crafty people and have learned many. many techniques!

It is the day after Halloween and I thought it would be fun to color Lawn Fawn's How you Bean Candy Corn Add-On Stamp Set. to be honest, I don't like candy corn! There is something about the texture that does not appeal to me or my tastebuds!

After stamping the image with my MISTI Stamping Tool by My Sweet Petunia*, I colored it with Copic Markers: YR14, YR16 and Y11 and added orange and clear Wink of Stella. Using the Hearts A Flutter die from StampinUp in my Cricut* Cuttlebug and sentiments from the stamp set, I created a quick clean and simple card.

This card came to me quickly as I usually take awhile to create one. It was fun and I was able to open a stamp set I have been hoarding.
