Hola everyone! The big REVEAL of the United As One Stamp Set is here! Dana, Hero Arts and I are excited to partner in a conscious effort to be intentionally diverse and inclusive.
I would like to thank Aaron of Hero Arts and his amazing team for all of their support in making our vision come to fruition. A special thanks to Jennifer McGuire for her guidance, continued love and unconditional friendship over the years.
The United As One Stamp Set was born from many conversations Dana and I had regarding a need to see Black people represented in the creative industry. The lack of diversity remains one of the most important issues in our community. An issue that must be addressed in the board rooms of business owners, retailers and manufacturers in the creative industries. Black people should be seated at the table to share our experiences, values and ideas. Hero Arts a company already committed to diversity and inclusion, invited Dana and I to create a few sets that we felt would make a difference. Images and sentiments that will inspire creators to speak their truth.
The United As One Stamp Set can be used in various ways for many occasions. I love to send snail mail, so for today’s post I created a postcard, card and matching envelope. I have never created a postcard before but was inspired by my creative group-Art Throw Down hosted by Alison @state_ of thefunyun and Russ @russrumano. We meet every week night at 10pm EST live on Instagram. Join us if you can. Most episodes are recorded and can be found on YouTube >>HERE<<
For my postcard I cut down a piece junk mail to 4 x 6 and applied scrap paper to the front and back. For the front, I stamped out the heart from the set and added a sentiment and punched smaller hearts. I will cover the front with a layer of Mod Podge for protection from the postal machines.
The card and matching envelope were created stamping the clasped hand first, masking them, then stamping the large heart. Sentiment and embellishments were added thereafter.
Please stop by Hero Art's Blog tomorrow as Dana will be on sharing her cards. A few guest artists we adore will be joining her.

DeleteCongratulations on making your vision a reality!! I saw your interaction with Sandy Allnock over the weekend and was moved by your conversations. It got me thinking. Every year I make Christmas cards to send to a card drive (cards are distributed to nursing homes). I have made cards to give to anyone who might not celebrate Christmas or be religious, but it never occurred to me to make cards for non-white recipients. I have a few now ... and my coloring needs work and practice!! Thank you for raising my awareness. I live in a diverse community where there are many hispanic people, and I could see using the HA stamp set for cards to send to people here, including our mayor (a hispanic woman) who is doing the best she can to see us through COVID times. Thank you, Pam ... and it's really good to "meet" you!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDebbie! I am so glad you enjoyed my conversation with Sandy! My coloring needs work and practice as well. I try to do it everyday-even if it is for 15 mins a day. Nice to meet you well!
DeleteFabulous postcard, card & matching envelope, Pam!! Big congrats on your wonderful stamp collaboration - so impressive, well done!!
